Role Summary

Goods Bank NEO is a recently launched nonprofit that provides new products at a nominal fee to
other nonprofits, schools, and faith-based organizations so they can Stretch their Impact.

With over 100 nonprofit members and quickly growing, the organization seeks a Warehouse Manager
who is dedicated to the organization’s social impact mission. The position will serve as an
integral team member working to expand the organization’s ability to serve more members by
managing the intake of products for display and distribution.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Warehouse Manager will serve as the lead in overseeing
receiving, storage, and distribution of a wide variety of durable products (ex. hygiene items,
household goods, clothing, toys, and much more).

The Manager will also work with the Associate Director in advising on volunteer projects that assist with sorting, shelving, and organizing items efficiently and with an eye towards displaying inventory to make it easy for nonprofit “shoppers” to locate specific products. Finally, the Warehouse Manager will oversee facility operations including, but not limited to, maintenance upkeep, cleanliness, and the creation & implementation of safety procedures.

Role Responsibilities:

Receiving product
● Unload trucks (using a pallet jack, forklift, and/or manually in cases of bulk furniture or
non palletized loads); shelve product for pre-sort on two-tiered industrial warehouse
racking
● Guide volunteers as needed in assisting with truck unloads
● Determine where to place products on racks to ensure efficient space utilization, which
may include frequently shifting product storage locations in preparation for new
shipments
● Advise on product to procure that could appeal to member organizations
Shelving product
● Utilize online Point of Sale system (ThriftCart) to barcode inventory
● Determine administrative fees necessary to charge members in order for Goods Bank
NEO to recover shipping and administrative fees spent on obtaining product

● Shelve product in the retail side of the warehouse; oversee categorization of products on
shelves and shopper-friendly product display, including advising on volunteer projects to
assist with shelving and organization

Building operations

● Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements
● Maintain and expand standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security of facilities (space
is 15,000 square foot), including adding any maintenance features needed to enhance the
space in these arenas
● Serve as primary point in cleaning space, including creating cleaning rotation of shared
facilities (garbage, recycling, bathroom, office)
● Handle minor repair projects around the warehouse and work with contractors as needed
(HVAC, forklift, etc.) to ensure space and equipment is properly maintained
● Prepare annual budget for warehouse needs

Customer service

● Liaise with members, volunteers, suppliers, contractors, and transport companies
● Check out member shoppers as needed using Point of Sale system
● Assist with loading member vehicles or shopping carts as needed
● Assist members as needed in locating products on shelves

Key Abilities Needed:

● Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with a range of visitors to the
warehouse
● Logistical thinker who can streamline product intake and placement in an organized,
efficient, and customer-centric way. Ability to conceptualize & implement new process
improvement initiatives
● Self-motivated, adaptable, and willing to pitch in where needed. The organization is
quickly evolving and composed of a small team (three staff with this role plus a number
of volunteers)
● Comfort with being on feet for a large portion of the day and engaging in moderate
physical activity (moving pallets, unloading trucks, cleaning, moving product, loading
product into vehicles, etc.)
● Comfort working in an older warehouse setting that is prone to dust and temperature
fluctuations
● Experience operating a forklift or willingness to become forklift certified
● Safety-minded, particularly when operating forklift and in implementing warehouse
facility enhancements and safety standards of practice
● Comfortable with computers as the role will involve operating the Point of Sale system
(ThriftCart) and utilizing Google Suite products (email, Google Drive)
● Previous warehouse and/or retail experience a plus

Compensation:

● Salary range: $40,000-$45,000
● Healthcare stipend available
● Work schedule 40 hours per week; schedule negotiable
